Portable HD Radio Tuner by Visteon Corporation

Skip satellite, and jump right into portable HD Radio. If you’ve been paying any attention lately, you’ve probably noticed that everyone is trying to sell you some sort of new, revamped radio. Unfortunately, the growing idea of satellite radio has a problem, and that is the subscription costs.

Why would you pay for something you don’t need? Good question, and if you’re getting irritated with the radio, or if you’ve already broken down and looked your MP3 player into your car stereo, there just might be a reason to go back.

Welcome to HD radio. Offering you “hidden” stations that are between the frequencies of your normally visited stations, HD radio offers you more choices to help you pass the time in the car, without the continuous cost of satellite radio.

Tuner

The Visteon Portable HD Radio Tuner is mounted inside your car, similar to a radar detector, or a GPS, and includes real-time station information, including artist name, song title, and various other information via the Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS). If also includes a remote control, a standard AM/FM analog tuner, and a car kit to help with installation.

You can purchase the tuner from Amazon for around $200

The only differences between this and a radar detector is that the radar detector doesn’t play tunes and has a longer receive range.
