Letsroam

When traveling to other countries, it’s sometimes a little tense when you begin to think about the cost of your cellular bill. If you go very far, it’s not uncommon to be hit with costs up to $.99 a minute, or even higher, if you have a US-based plan. I’m planning to take a trip to Europe here shortly, and after calling T-mobile I discovered that if I want to stay out of filing chapter 9, I should look into renting a SIM card once I get to my destination. Then I saw the website for Letsroam.

Letsroam is nothing new, they simply offer you the ability to purchase online, and check prices ahead of time. They offer SIM card purchases that are similar to just buying a calling card, and all you need is a phone that will communicate with the network in the country you’re visiting (quad-band, etc). Once you determine that, you only need to make sure your GSM phone is unlocked, and then slip in the new SIM card. Easy as pie, right?

Prices vary depending on the country, but Letsroam’s website is very simple and has a search function right on the page that will break down all the different costs, including text messaging. In some countries, it’s not impossible to be able to get free incoming calls and text messages, so it doesn’t hurt to look.

We hope to be able to review this soon.
