How to Clean Your Keyboard
By Melissa | Permalink |My Sony Vaio’s keyboard seems fine. But if you look closer, you’d definitely see the signs. Signs that I have spent many nights alone in my hotel room, munching on chips, nuts and chocolate.
Believe me, I have held my laptop upside down many times, hoping for all the “debris” to escape from their under-the-keyboard prison. Some escaped but many are still trapped.
Today, I have decided to include the improvement of my keyboard’s status/health as one of my new year’s resolutions. And the first step is… searching the net for information on HOW TO clean my keyboard.
Should your keyboard be keeping some food debris as prisoners, take the time to read what I have unearthed.
Thomas Plummer shared his own experience via Computing.Net. His tips on Cleaning Laptop Keyboards was based on his very own experience. I am thisclose to telling you to “not do this at home”. Ohhhh… I just did. Well, it’s not for the faint-hearted. Not only would you need tons of stuff which I, personally, have absolutely no idea where to get but you ALSO need to do more than just cleaning. You would also have to disassemble, lubricate and assemble.
Lifehacker, on the other hand, says compressed air will also do the trick.
Yahoo Tech says you can use a vacuum cleaner.
You can also use this cool tool with an afro. It’s a simple brush that fits between your keyboard keys. Interestingly, it comes in different hair styles and facial expressions.
