helmet-cam.jpgWe have all seem them before, those cool, first person view videos of extreme sports like kayaking, mountain biking, and other extreme sports. Before, the equipment to make these kinds of videos was extremely expensive and available only to those in the media industry. Today, their are cheaper alternatives to just about everything, including small helmet cameras. I introduce you to the GoPro Digital Helmet Hero Camera.

For less than $200, you can have all the equipment you need to make TV and web quality videos via a helmet cam. The GoPro Digital Helmet Hero Camera is a video and digital camera that is housed in a waterproof container. I highly doubt that the GoPro Digital Helmet Hero Camera is dive proof, but I think it can withstand some mild submersions, rain, and splashes.

The GoPro Digital Helmet Hero Camera can record up to around 50 minutes of video with sound. It can also be set to take a picture every five seconds to create a killer action sequence. The GoPro Digital Helmet Hero Camera set includes a helmet setup or a head strap for when a helmet isn’t needed. the entire unit runs off of two AAA batteries.

For sports and activities that are loud or have a lot of vibrations, you can adjust the sound recording. This way you don’t get stuck with a video where all you here is the bouncing of the helmet or vibrations of the bike going downhill. All and all, the GoPro Digital Helmet Hero Camera is a pretty sweet little setup for messing around with and creating some cool home videos.
