Chinese Electric Car

Well, sedan, actually. Miles, an automotive company based in Southern California is hoping to kill two birds with one stone. For years, a Chinese exported car has been rumored to be entering the U.S. market, and it only makes sense. We see cars from Japan, Korea, countries around Europe, as well as domestics, so why not from the world’s fastest growing automotive market?

The car would not only be the first of it’s kind out of China, it would also be a first in the electric sedan category. The chassis was designed by Italian designer Pininfarina, hopefully combating some of the feelings that Chinese products are associated with being cheap and failure-prone.

The car would be named the Javlon, and is projected to have a top speed of about 80 miles per hour, and be able to travel approximately 120 miles on a charge. While the range isn’t the best, the battery is said to last about 100,000 miles before needing to be replaced, refuting the argument that electric cars are expensive because of the battery replacement costs.

The cost of the car is about $32,000, and while it may be just another one of the many examples of automakers attempting to be the first of their kind and create a niche in the market, it is certainly steps forward that should be noted.

More details about the car can be found at at the Miles Automotive website.
