Apple and Nike, a regular Juggernaut
By Aleksi | Permalink |If you thought that both Apple and Nike couldn’t get any bigger, you probably didn’t consider the two of them joining. It makes sense, once you think about the fact that the iPod makes the perfect workout partner, with all it’s different variations and even colors, you could match it to your top, your pants, and even your shoes. After we saw this, we came to the conclusion that Nike is bored, and the next step would be to integrate Nike, Apple, and Ford into some sort of Flinstones car.
For the Apple iPod Nano owners who like to stay fit, or for those of you that want to track your exercise, and don’t always have the benefit of traveling with your workout partner, you can now just use your shoes. With the help of the new Nike+ Shoes, you can actually sync your Nano and your running.
It works like this:
1. Remove the Insole in your Nike+ Shoe, and place the receiver into the small compartment in the sole of ths shoe. Replace the insole.
2. Connect the other receiver to the bottom of your Nano.
3. Put your shoes on, put on your headphones, turn on your Nano, and run.
The Nike Sport Music section of the Apple Store includes Nike created workout mixes that are designed to keep you motivated while running, and the gear actually keeps track of your distance right on the Nano’s screen, the pace at which you are running, and how long you’ve been running for, as well as how many calories you’ve burned. If you select the option, the Nano can even verbally mark milestones for you during your run.
If you’ve already got a Nano, the Sport Kit will only cost you $29 from amazon but if you don’t have one, you’ll have to purchase a Nano as well.
