Apple AirPort Express

For those of you that travel with your computers, you don’t need me to explain the hassle of hooking up your laptop to the hotel’s in-room internet. Never fear however, because your endless fumbling with cords, only to be forced to sit on the uncomfortable chair at the tiny desk, or packing a 20ft. long ethernet cord, are over.

Apple AirPort ExpressThe Apple AirPort Express is a small unit that looks similar to an iPod or Apple Laptop power supply cord, but instead of plugging directly into your computer, it has three small ports on the back. Simply find an outlet, plug the hotel’s ethernet cable into the back of the AirPort, and connect wirelessly via your laptop.

If you’re not much of a traveler though, you may still find some use with the AirPort Express. Not only does it provide wireless internet, it also works as a signal booster that can be placed around your house to boost your wireless signal for those special areas (uhem, bathroom?) that can be hard to get a reliable signal at. Still can’t justify buying one? Well perhaps the fact that it ALSO provides access to AirTunes, and by connecting your stereo system to an audio cable that’s included in the optional AirPort Express Stereo Connection Kit you can play music wirelessly to different areas of a building.

Don’t have an Apple? Don’t worry, as with many of their other products, this device also works with Windows-based machines.

The Apple AirPort can be found at Amazon for $99
