Anywhere.FM

If you have an extensive music library, you may be looking for different ideas to access it from other computers. Sure, most of us use an iPod, Zune, or another type of MP3 player, but what if you don’t want to cart it around with you, to say, work?

If you’re lucky enough to work at a computer like me, you may find that it’d be just as easy to play your music via the web. Now if only you could figure a way to access your computer at home, from work. Simple. Anywhere.FM is a web-based application that allows you to upload your music into a player (that looks very similar to iTunes) and that can be accessed simply by logging in with a username and password. The really great feature about this is that (right now at least) the storage space and everything is entirely free. We don’t know if they are planning to eventually begin to charge, so enjoy it while you can!

One gripe I had when creating an account (the actual creation is amazing, you just choose a username and a password, and bam!) is that they offer a “bulk” uploader if you have a large number of music, say your entire music library, but I could not get it to work. This meant that I had to prune through my iTunes library and choose the music I wanted to add, and since iTunes subcategorizes everything into albums (which have their own folders) it can be somewhat time consuming and irritating to upload everything.

Overall though, where else can you get a service like this for free? Exactly, so check it out.
