Nowadays, going online with your laptop even while you are on the go is easy. Of course, you need to be near a WiFi hotspot in order to connect.

However, if you’d rather not be bothered with having to look for a hotspot and would prefer to be online wherever you are, you might want to consider getting a 3G data card.

3G is short for 3rd Generation technology, in mobile phone standards. It has broadband capabilities, have greater data speeds and increased capacity for voice and data. It also allows users to access global roaming between different 3Gs.

3G is actually a generic term used for a range of future wireless network technologies which includes UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System), EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution), WCDMA and CDMA2000.

Pros: All of the above. Plus, with a 3G system, you can have a connection from any location including your house, office, hospotal, land vehicles and on-board a yacht or any water craft.
Cons: $$$
