Navalert GPS Red-Light & Speed Camera Detector Review
By Mika |
The Navalert GPS detector is an interesting bit of technology. For years we’ve stuck to the traditional method of trying to detect radar and speed camera signals based upon their output, which can lead to a couple problems. If you have instant-on radar, for example, the reaction needed to be able to slow to within the limits allowed in that area can be nearly impossible. Instead of detecting the signal, the Navalert is similar to devices used in the United Kingdom and other countries around the world, where your GPS location is compared to the documented locations of all red light, speed, and other traffic cameras.
Where to get it:
Navalert.com for $199 (20% off special now running)
Phantomalert.com for $219

MINT 220 Digital Music Station
By Daved |MINT 220 Digital Music Station - Wireless iPod Speakers.

iPod docks with built in speakers and portable iPod speakers are nothing new. iPod accessories have been flooding the market since its introduction. With the exception of the high grade accessories, most of them are crap. This is especially true when it comes to the portable iPod speakers. Most have poor sound quality, don’t get very loud, and involve several sets of wires. Thanks to the MINT 220 Digital Music Station though, you can get excellent sound quality and no wires for a very affordable price.

HotelsCombined Search Gadget for iGoogle
By Mika |
If you don’t already know what iGoogle is, let me just quickly summarize it as a personalized Google home page where you can add your own feeds, gadgets and the like. You may wonder what’s the point, but after using it for a little while most people begin to appreciate how it helps you keep track of the routine things that you use without having to go to a new web site every time, or at least lets you start from the same place and eliminate one step.
For those of you who are fans of HotelsCombined, or just would like to see what it’s all about I present you with the HotelsCombined Google Gadget.
With this gadget you can search for hotels across multiple travel sites at one time and sort them by price, popularity, ratings or narrow your search by filtering by star rating, features and other factors and begin your search from your iGoogle home page. The interface is friendly and simple to use, and quite handy since it compares over 30 major travel sites at one time.
Add the HotelsCombined Google Gadget by clicking here and see what it’s all about.

Myvu Shades 301 – Personal Media Viewer
By Zak |
This is a groundbreaking product that you can watch videos, movies, play video games or just listen to your favorite band while wearing a new style of sunglasses.
Once you slip on these space age shades, you’ll be tuned in for hours. From the outside, it looks like you are a member of the Enterprise. From first person view, your eyes are blocked from the sun and you get great sound and video from an iPod or other electronic device.
Why it rocks:
- Really cool technology that is compatible with your favorite portable electronics
- Has pretty good sound and visual display for its small size
- Very easy to transport or take with you on a trip
- The viewing experience is private, only you can see
- Three different brightness levels
- Very light weight, you barely feel that it’s on your face
- Where ever you look, the display stays right with your eyes
- Battery life lasts up to 10 hours on a single charge
What I don’t like:
- The excess cords that are attached
- The plastic frames worry me a little on its durability.
Price: $199.95
The Shades 301 are very user friendly, it has different cable hookups depending on what kind of media you want to use. One thing I like about these is whichever way you move your head, the feed goes with your eyes. The ear buds that come on the glasses are nice because they help cut out surrounding noise so you don’t have to have the volume up really loud. It comes with a cloth carrying case so you can keep the cords you need together. Recharging time is about 2-3 hours from a wall charger but it can take a little longer if it’s hooked up to your computer’s USB drive.
Overall: 8.5/10
It’s nice to sit back with your favorite movie and watch it whenever and wherever. If it’s late and you don’t want to wake everyone up or your on public transportation and need your comedy fix.

GPS Rings
By Daved |
There is nothing worse than not knowing where you are going in a strange city. You could always go buy a map, but they can be hard to read or even outdated. If you are traveling in a third world country, a map will be down right useless. There will be next to no street signs, not to mention all the make shift roads that wouldn’t be on the map anyways. These types of travel related problems are exactly what led Gail Knight to developing the Vibrating GPS Ring.

Doberman Bag Protector Alert
By Daved |
Many hostels offer some sort of locker to keep your gear safe while away. These lockers can give youthe basic protection you need for your stuff, but they don’t offer 100% protection. Some hostels have shady owners, while others have so many locks that there are bound to be keys that open multiple lockers. For some added security and piece of mind, I suggest checking out the Doberman Bag Protector Alert.
